It still doesn't feel like home – but it's where the heart is

It’s over two years now since we moved home. Just a few hundred yards away – in fact you can still see our old home from the new one. The new owners have made a few alterations, but you can still see the good bones and listed building structure of our former abode from the new place.

I’ve now got used to turning right when I leave the station, rather than left and things have changed a little since a couple of old friends moved away: one to Barcelona, a couple to Italy and the old madman from the sticks, who moved back to Germany in a bit of a huff. The Professor’s still there though and he’s got a couple of new students, including a Welsh wizard, studying with him this year.

Arsenal played their last game at Highbury on 5th May 2006, yet the Emirates still doesn’t feel like home. It’s bigger, more comfortable and the facilities are far better. Everyone I have taken as a guest to our family season tickets in the front of the Upper Tier loves it. But there’s something just too clean, quiet and clinical about the place and the shortage of silverware doesn’t help.

Despite all that, in less than 11 hours time I’ll be seeing the Premier League kick off, as Gallas leads the team out against the Baggies. Let’s hope it’s a good one!

Data loss

This blog suffered a catastrophic loss of data at the end of 2009. I am restoring as many posts as possible as time allow, but comments are missing.
