I haven’t prepared a speech …

It’s not often that I am speechless, but I certainly was last night when friends Caron Lindsay and Helen Duffett contacted me to say that I’d made the Total Politics LibDem top ten. I’m still fairly surprised this morning, not just because I am always surprised that anyone reads what I have written, but because the last few months have seen me sepend more time with hospitals, doctors and nurses than at my keyboard.

I felt so unworthy that I didn’t even promote the Total Politics awards here on my blog, unlike most others. So a double thank you to anyone who took the trouble to vote for me unprompted.

The story has even been picked up by the local paper, after I mentioned it in passing to a reporter I met last night at a council meeting. This afternoon they sent a photographer round to snap me grinning at my screen!

So thanks again. I am now enthused to try to earn any accolades I may get in the coming year.

Data loss

This blog suffered a catastrophic loss of data at the end of 2009. I am restoring as many posts as possible as time allow, but comments are missing.

Why I am a Liberal Democrat

The Liberal Democrats exist to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no-one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity.
