Even Tessa's had enough now

It was only a month ago that Gordon Brown was forced to recall Tessa Jowell to the Cabinet, after it looked like he was not only short on gender balance, but also MPs with an iota of credibility willing to serve.

Now it appears that the ultimate ‘professional politician’ has had enough. I know she’s had a bad time of things in the past couple of years, with the allegations over her husband, arguments over the use of National Lottery receipts and hassle over the Olympics, but I am surprised that she is leaving. I am assuming that she’ll be expecting a peerage – well if it’s good enough for Michael Martin …

Ms Jowell once claimed she would ‘jump under a bus’ for Tony Blair, a loyalty which made her enemies in Gordon Brown’s circle. Looks like the total collapse of the Labour government has pushed her into a different jump.

Presumably she’s going to spend more time with her husband.

Good riddance to a Labour crook who’s married to a convicted crook.

No doubt she’ll take her fat, public funded pension.
