So here I am, shut up in a hospital room for a week. I’ve got my laptop and BlackBerry, but i’ve also brought plenty of reading matter to try to stave off the boredom, so on top of my locker I have several books which I have started, but am nowhere near finishing:
No politics – I’m getting that from the web.

That does sound rather educating. The Undercover Economist is good, but the best of the “popular economics” books is also one of the earliest: Steven Landsburg, The Armchair Economist http://www.amazon.co.uk/Armchair-Economist-Economics-Everyday-Life/dp/1847395252/ (Though I think his chapter on environmentalism is unnecessarily dismissive the rest is excellent.)
